ScienceUpFirst
public relations
ScienceUpFirst is a national initiative that works with a collective of independent scientists, researchers, climate and health experts and science communicators. They share the best available science in creative ways to stop the spread of health misinformation.
The Tea has supported ScienceUpFirst on multiple initiatives since 2021, including public and influencer relations for its various campaigns and initiatives. These include:
“Together Against Misinformation" week was a national week-long campaign in 2024 to raise awareness about the harmful effects of health misinformation online. This marquee week included a sold-out panel in Calgary featuring a team of leading doctors and scientists and other events across Canada. PR efforts resulted in a reach of over 116 million people in markets nationwide.
Sex, Lies and Hormones: The Truth About Women's Health. In 2023, we led PR efforts on this highly-popular campaign and panel to raise awareness about the harmful effects of misinformation on women’s health. With a Vancouver-centric approach, we achieved PR hits in all major news networks, resulting in a reach of over 11 million people.
In 2022, we supported ScienceUpFirst with their #TakeScience into fall campaign. Efforts focused on raising awareness amongst media and influencers about the feature panel, as well as how they can support raising awareness of the harmful effects of health misinformation. Outreach to over 700 media and influencers led to expansive media and social media coverage.

Larissa and Maddie are amazing to work with. They are clear, kind, and creative, with great ideas to accomplish our goals. They know how to balance asking the client the right questions with getting stuff done independently. Their influencer research let us reach new audiences and has been foundational to our work addressing COVID-19 misinformation on social media.
