YVR
PUBLIC RELATIONS & influencer strategy
Vancouver’s only Indigenous owned and operated restaurant, Salmon n’ Bannock, opened at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), making it the first Indigenous restaurant in a Canadian airport.
The Impact
YVR partnered with The Tea Communications to launch Salmon n' Bannock On the Fly, the first Indigenous restaurant in an airport in Canada. Our team supported YVR on the communications and influencer strategy including an experiential media product drop, media material development, media relations, media preview event support, and strategic influencer partnerships.
Creators included Shayla Stonechild, Trudy Leung, Owen Unruh, and Peter White.
Collectively, the videos resulted in impactful results with over 202K plays, 190K potential reach, and 20K interactions.
Influencer Strategy & Partnerships
To support the Salmon N’ Bannock On The Fly grand opening, The Tea collaborated with various influencers and creators across different platforms to amplify the restaurant’s launch. The Tea led the end-to-end influencer campaign – including developing an influencer strategy, researching and shortlisting suggested partners, developing video key messages, leading the day of shoots, and reporting on campaign success. This influencer campaign resulted in four partnerships with a total of eight content pieces created: an Instagram Reel and a TikTok video from each creator. Trends in comments showed significant support for Salmon n' Bannock On the Fly, drool-worthy comments about the food, and most importantly, notable interest from travellers that they have plans to make a pit-stop at the restaurant if passing through International Departures.
